| OpenVME from Version 6 onwards supports a generic model of tape behaviour which is described in OpenVME: Using and Managing Generic Tape and Library Systems. As new types of tape become available you will define property names to identify them. We suggest you use the property names in this register in case you subsequently need to move your workload to or accept a workload from another OpenVME installation. The tape length and capacity columns are relevant only for fixed capacity working. Tape lengths are given in the units quoted by the manufacturer, which may be metres for a physical tape cartridge or a configured limit for a virtual tape. The capacities are for general guidance. You may well find that you consistently achieve higher compression ratios and can use higher fixed capacities. |
| Property | Tape Format | Tape Length | Nominal Capacity 2:1 Compression | Fixed Capacity - Typical | Fixed Capacity - Ultra Safe |
| LTO3 | LTO Ultrium 3 | 680m | 800Gb | 720Gb | 360Gb |
| CEN1 | CentricStor Virtual Tape | 870MB | 1740MB | 1740MB | 870MB |
| STKC | 9840C | 40GB | 80GB | 72GB | 36GB |
This register is made available as a service to our customers. The listing of a tape format does not imply that Fujitsu Services has tested that format with OpenVME. The absence of a tape format does not imply unsuitability for use with OpenVME. |
Please help us make the register more useful to all our customers by sending us details of any other tape format you have
used as a generic tape on OpenVME.
