As part of its policy of continuous improvement, Fujitsu Services introduced OpenVME and Trimetra support web pages via www.vmesupport.net in the year 2000. These pages include information and modules mirroring content of the Maintenance Knowledge Database (MKB). 

They deliver information in a user friendly form both in improved presentation and speed of transmission. News and ION items have become available at the click of a browser button in contrast to the old method of raising Maintenance Service Requests (MSRs) via SAM.  

The 'download' section offers fast access to Fileset Solutions (FSETS) along with the ability to view installation and control documentation before committing to lengthy downloads giving improvements over the MKB. The format of some microcodes for current Trimetra hardware prevent their distribution via the MKB.  

As a result the support pages have proved very popular with users. Correspondingly the number of requests for IONs, News and FSETs on the MKB via SAM have fallen away dramatically.    

Fujitsu Services have therefore decided that as of 20th February 2005 no new IONs, News Index, News items and FSETs will be published on the MKB. These will now only appear on  www.vmesupport.net . 

OpenVME repairs and envelopes will currently remain available via SAM/MKB.
