NOVA systems in a heterogeneous SAN environment.
An issue has been identified where NOVA and none NOVA Systems are connected on the same SAN.
If a NOVA system shares a tape SAN with other systems then those systems have visibility of the tape decks allocated to NOVA. The other system may attempt to take control of those tape decks intended to be connected to NOVA.
It is highly recommended that where NOVA systems share a SAN with any other system that either:
-
The SAN is zoned such that NOVA and the tape decks owned by NOVA are in a separate zone to the other systems and the tape decks they own.
- LUN Masking is applied to the none NOVA servers such that they only have access to the tape decks they own
- LUN masking is applied to the tape decks such that only the intended hosts have access to the tape deck.
